What is ODDUA? The word Oddua is derived from the Yoruban language, meaning “The end and the beginning.” The word also stems from “Oduduwa Ogun” (The patron deity of warriors and metalworkers, who is an orisha (saint) in the Yoruban Culture. Because change is the essence of the universe, there is always and end to things. And at that end, is a new beginning. This is the philosophy of ODDUA.
In 2006, Oddua Records was formed by Allegra Bandy and Heather Licini to produce musical works, such as the album “Sunday Juice,” in 2006, using ODDUA as the name of the musical ensemble for those works. In 2011, Allegra Bandy created Oddua Productions, expanding to mult-media production and publishing, including music, public service videos for the Center for Investigative Reporting, a podcast called, “Making It Work,” (co-produced with Akeisha Johnson), audiobooks, and audio production consultation and education. Now in 2021, Oddua Publishing LLC, founded by Allegra Bandy, has been created solely for the production and publishing of audiobooks. Oddua Publishing LLC specializes in helping authors turn their published non-fiction hardcopy or ebooks into an audiobook, by managing the recording of the author’s narration, the editing, mixing, mastering, and publishing of their audiobooks. Based in the San Francisco Bay Area, Oddua Publishing LLC works with authors to publish and distribute their audiobooks nationally and internationally on over 40 different audiobook platforms.
